About me

I was born in Valenza (Italy) a capital of the e Italian jewellery business. Since I was young, I heard about jewellery and goldsmith, my parents and my brother are all working on the jewellery business. I've studied jewellery design at the high school, then I've got a degree in set and costume design at the Academy of Fine Art of Brera in Milano.

Since 2010 I live in The Netherlands. New country, new culture, new experiences. A desire to change, finding new inspirations. I've started to work on new personal ideas and so Dario Scapitta Design has started.

All my collections are focused on the connection between all inspiring elements are surrounding me. Using different techniques like for example advanced technology as 3d printing combined with more traditional technique like sand casting, I'm designing each piece starting from sketches and then modelling the shapes with 3d software or by hand. After testing parts and sample to get the right proportions, each item is handcrafted till its final look. I also produce very small quantity of pieces, which are mostly crafted on made-to-order base to work on more sustainable way without overproducing.

Investigating the boundaries between technology and craftsmanship to create contemporary and timeless jewellery collections. From extreme minimalism to more bold and raw designs, playing with material finishings such high polished or textured surfaces.

Every pieces and collection are designed and crafted in my atelier in Enschede, The Netherlands. My preferred chosen material is 925 sterling silver, forged to obtain different surface effects. Looking to connect design and fashion, inspired by art, architecture or Nature, I love to create jewellery sets matching each other. Collectable pieces.

My work in sentences

My jewels are characterized by a pure and timeless and by un uncommon aesthetic which makes them looks modern and contemporary but always with an edgy and elegant touch.

I love finding a shape, from natural elements for example, and trying to catch its essence and translate it into a wearable piece, evolving then that shape into an endless possibility of jewel which can be ring, bracelets, or a necklace.

Jewellery with edgy and strong look & feel. A clean design highlighted by rough texture making each piece unique and possibility to chose between different sizes and proportions. The jewels are a perfect mix between elegance and a sturdy look.

I like silver because you play with it, by adding oxidation you can create light and shadows contrasts to obtain always different effects. It is a living precious metal, which is getting better when it is getting older, like wine. The more you wear it the more the jewel became nicer, almost the same that happen with a leather bag.
